This is a great dynamic rope for scrambling. It is ultra-light weight at only 55g per meter, so you won’t regret carrying it on the approach. The 30m length was tested which worked well to cover some smaller crux moves on the scramble, without needing a longer rope. If you prefer, it is also available in 50m, 60m, 70m, 80m and 100m lengths. As with many ropes, it is dry treated to improve its longevity, making it more resistant to water, dirt and abrasion which is always a bonus in the UK. It offered good grip and was easy to handle when taking coils or belaying. The bright orange colour made it easy to see against the rock and the black middle mark helps you identify how much rope is left, and (depending on your system) can help with coiling the rope at the end of your scramble. It ran well through different belay devices and depending on the climbing you are undertaking it can be used as a single, half or twin rope.
► Verdict: A lightweight but solid dynamic rope for climbing.
► Best for: This rope does it all – rock, mixed, snow or ice climbing.
