When you are on a long expedition or multi-day trek, you need to be able to keep your kit well-organised. All my standard trekking kit could be stowed neatly in this pack thanks to the excellent number and size of pockets. You can choose between one or two main compartments, depending on how you want the bag configured. And there is easy access if you need something you have packed lower down. The stuff pocket on the front was great to put a wet jacket into so it was separated from my main pack. Even the top pocket was a good size for items that I wanted access to during breaks or in an emergency. It’s crowning glory is that this top pocket can be removed and turned into a functional 15 litre day pack. Great if you want a small excursion from camp without having to take your whole pack. Most of the weight is directed through the hip belt thanks to a flexible bar which means you can move easily over varied terrain without the bag destabilising you. The weight is distributed well and, as cliched as it sounds, at times I forgot I was carrying a large pack.
▶ Verdict: The only companion you need for a comfortable and convenient trip.
▶ Best for: Longer expeditions where its features and size can be put to good use.
