These approach shoes are very lightweight at only 220g. They have the comfort of a pair of slippers, which hug your feet thanks to the fabric of the upper which stretches a little with your foot. The Vibram MegaGrip sole gives superb grip, even on wet rock, giving you confidence with your foot placements. It is flexible and thinner than other soles, so you can feel more of the undulations underneath your feet. This may sound uncomfortable, but it allows you an even better grip. The rubber extends around the toe for even more protection. The tongue is fixed on one side, so it didn’t move around, and it was easy to get them comfortable on your feet. The laces are very thin which felt a little fiddly, but the lacing system means when you tighten the laces the shoe hugs your foot incredibly well. After long approaches they remained breathable. They are great for hanging on your harness while you climb thanks to the generous loop on the heel which fits even the chunkiest carabiner.
► Verdict: Lightweight and comfortable with a lot of grip.
► Best for: Any walking but especially crag or mountain approaches.
