At 680g, the Pounder XT is a true lightweight – only the Alpkit hits the scales below this one – and as such, it’s definitely a summer only bag or a potential liner as part of a sleep system. And it also packs very small – a definite bonus for small summer packs or bike packing or similar. Weight has been trimmed everywhere here. The insulation is provided by 300g of 700 fill power duck down – only the Alpkit has less down – and apart from a full-length zip, that is so long it can be fully opened to use it as a quilt, it has no real features inside – no shoulder baffle and a very simple hood closure. It’s also quite short – just 190cm in length so tall people would be better off looking elsewhere. So as a summer only bag that packs small, is easy to carry, and is warm and versatile enough to cope with warmer climates, this would be a good bet. But at £200, it’s priced a little prohibitively.
