An insanely good value and good-looking shell from a brand transitioning to PFC free membranes. The waterproofing is provided by Aquadry and works well, and while I’m not a huge fan of mesh liners, the one inside isn’t too intrusive, and the jacket really was surprisingly breathable for something at this price point. On the features front, there’s nicely tailored Velcro-adjustable sleeves, a roomy inside chest pocket and two even roomier handwarmer pockets, all with zips. The hem is adjustable and there’s a good stormflap on the front zip. The hood is 3-way adjustable and offers a stiffened rim. It doesn’t move with the head that well but does offer a decent amount of protection. The fit is roomy and easily accommodates layering underneath. This is perhaps not a high mountain jacket but one that functions exceptionally well for the price and looks great too.
▶ Verdict: Superb value and good-looking waterproof jacket that’s hard to fault for the price.
▶ Best for: General purpose outdoors – dogwalks and day trips.
