I admit to having low expectations, with no prior experience of Columbia footwear. However, on test I soon learned that this is a versatile and well-made hiker. It’s billed as a “multisport” shoe, with a definite nod to running with its gym inspired looks and knobbly outsole that provides really good traction. There’s plenty of cushioning in the midsole, with stiffness under the heel and midfoot, but flexibility towards the toes. It’s a bit on the heavy side for a full-on running shoe, but really quite a nimble trail-hiking shoe. The Outdry membrane keeps out puddles and general wetness. The build quality is good, it feels rugged and durable, and the price is very competitive.
