These socks come with a bullish guarantee: Blister free and able to last 1000 miles. They have a double layer, the outer being a high wool content mix 40% Merino Wool, 29% Nylon, 23% Polyester, 6% Cotton and 2% Lycra, and the inner layer, a silky 100% Tactel liner. I admit I was dubious at first, I normally wear a liner sock to help prevent hotspots and manage moisture, but these seemed gimmicky. I was wrong. There is lots of cushioning around the pressure points, and the sock is very warm, but extremely comfortable. You do need to take care when putting them on that the liner doesn’t ruck up. I‘m blister free and I’m a convert.
VERDICT: A surprisingly pleasing walking sock.
BEST FOR: Hill walking.
