On 25th of April 2015, a devastating earthquake that measured 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Nepal. The earthquake and over 145 aftershocks are still continuing, which have already claimed over 8,000 lives with more than 15,000 people injured. An estimated 3 million Nepalese are homeless, over 70,000 homes completely destroyed and another
530,000 homes damaged across 39 affected districts (OCHA). According to UNOCHA, 3.5 million people needed immediate food assistance and over 1.4 million will require continuous food support for the next three months.
The world immediately came to aid Nepal, and Sherpa Adventure Gear acted promptly. Realising the urgent need for shelters, Sherpa Adventure Gear started making waterproof high quality tents and blankets in their factory. They also ordered the Medical supplies and 500 pieces of Tarpaulin from India. In addition to this, Sherpa Adventure Gear also started raising funds to help Nepal called “Help Sherpas Help Nepal”. Which has raised over $144,000 so far.
