The Rokua jacket’s strongest feature is the hood which is adjustable, with a stiffened peak and provides a good fit to the face. The hem is also adjustable through the pockets which keeps the draw cords hidden and easy to access. The fabric feels thicker than many of the other jackets on test and, while windproof and durable, it feels less flexible. The sleeves and chest felt tight and restricted my movement. The elasticated cuffs were not adjustable and felt loose around my wrists. Finally, the hidden chest pocket is barely big enough to stow a compass. Vaude’s impressive environmental credentials may tempt you, just check the sizing first.
VERDICT: Functional, but with stiffer, less flexible fabric.
BEST FOR: Anyone who wants minimal impact on the environment.
