I’ve spent a lot of time in 2/3 person tents in recent years, but this tent was a big surprise. It’s 2.3kg – perhaps not the lightest, but reasonable shared between two people and a good price. It’s a classic tunnel tent design, which makes pitching very easy, even when I was on my own, and I found the reflective guy ropes very useful when dusk set in. Two people on tapered mats could easily fit – or it provides just me with the space I prefer, rather than being cramped in a one-person tent. A maximum headroom of 95mm allows me to sit up perfectly well too. The porch is more than big enough to cook in – provided I am organised and have my gear to one side. Once up, I feel it’s going to stay up, even in the highest of winds, and a hydrostatic head of 5000mm keeps the rain out.
► Verdict: A great tent well suited to the DofE experience.
► Best for: Multi-day wild camping expeditions.
