I don’t like to let weather get in the way of a bike ride so was excited to test a jersey from Stolen Goat’s Orkaan range of all weather cycling clothing. It’s designed to be water and wind resistant, and comfortable in changeable conditions, so my home roads of Arran, with plenty of hills, wind and variable weather were the ideal testing ground. The Orkaan Jersey is not truly wind proof, but the soft and clingy fabric keeps out the worst on a breezy descent, and the fleecy lining insulates well. The good news is that on long hill climbs; the Orkaan fabric transports sweat away from the skin, avoiding overheating. The full zip also glides brilliantly up and down so can be adjusted one handed for venting. Long sleeves have stretchy cuffs that can easily be pushed up the arms when the heat is on. It dries quickly, and resists a light shower, but for heavy rain a shell is still desirable. On the back are three generous elastic pockets, with a reflective detail, and a lined water resistant pocket designed for valuables. I don’t totally trust this with my phone, but its good for a fiver and a credit card. Overall it lives up to its billing as one of the most comfortable winter jerseys I’ve used. Lucy Wallace
