This top and bottom are made of soft merino wool. They are designed to be slim-fitting but their slight stretch meant they were very comfortable. The flat lock seams ensured I didn’t feel any chafing, even when wearing a pack. The sleeves on the top are a good length, as are legs on the bottoms. The top worked well as a single layer on its own, and as part of a layering system when it became colder. The ¼ zip is a useful feature to help regulate your temperature when you are working hard. The bottoms compliment the top with a wide elastic waist band. The bottom sags a little after a few days wear, but as you normally wear them underneath your ski trousers this isn’t a major problem. After several days of continuous use the merino wool didn’t smell sweaty and they washed really well, retaining their shape and size.
► Verdict: Warm, soft and comfortable.
► Best for: Wearing alone or as part of a layering system.
