The Lakpa Rita Jacket from Sherpa keeps getting better and the latest version has a much-improved adjustable, helmet compatible hood. The wired peak does a good job of keeping the weather out. Made from 40D Nylon with reinforced 70D panels, welded to an eVent waterproof membrane, it is very breathable, although eVent is relatively high maintenance (wash regularly for optimum performance). There are plenty of pockets: two large ones on the body and two small chest ones, all external. As a lightweight winter shell, it’s pretty good, except that the cuffs are too narrow to pull over my warmest insulated winter gloves. Weight 350g.
VERDICT: A light yet well-featured waterproof.
BEST FOR: Year-round mountain trekking.
