The shape of these socks is a little unusual with a point in the centre of the toes, rather than at the big toe, which creates a little extra space. When first wearing them, I could feel extra material bunching under my toes and at the front of my ankle. They didn’t stretch out to wrap your feet like other woven socks, in part I believe due to the lining, and so they felt a little misshapen in places. Luckily this didn’t cause any chafing or blisters and the lack of any seams helped with this too. They also came quite high up the calf for ankle socks. They kept my feet drier than with normal socks when running through puddles, but there is an interesting balance between keeping the feet dry from the outside elements and stopping them getting wet from within due to sweat. While the bamboo lining aims to control moisture, I found that my feet still got sweaty. The washing instructions are woven into the hem and they washed well in the machine.
▶Verdict: Keep your feet dry if they’re being immersed.
▶Best For: Great for trail running or any activity where your boots might leak!
