The world’s most popular inflatable SUP has been rightly showered with industry and consumer awards. The board has gradually evolved over the years since 2016, when RED’s patented MSL tech first took the lead on the inflatable paddleboard market. It’s quick to inflate with the pump that comes with it. And, thanks to the tech inside it — a sandwich of complex, clever things — when inflated it looks and feels just like a hard board. Everything about this SUP is well made, even the bag, which has integrated wheels, padded handles and a waterproof foil liner. The built-in fins are super durable. It’s very forgiving, cruises and turns well; the deck pad’s diamond texture gives good grip, so you feel stable as you work against the water. Under the front bungee cord, you can strap down things like a water bottle and snacks. This size is great for small to medium people, the bigger 10’8” is designed for larger paddlers. It’s expensive but built to last.
▶Verdict: Beautifully made, ideal for the beginner to all-round paddleboarder.
▶Best for: A life-time of paddleboard fun.
