A new brand to me, and one I am so far impressed with. The Selector short are a smart, just-above-the-knee cycling short with a ridiculous amount of stretch! They come up fairly true to size – I tend to wear my trews baggy, tried the large and cinched them all the way in using the popper adjusters built into the waist. There’s a grippy back band which works fairly well to hold these in place, and two, decently sized pockets in the normal places plus a smaller, zipped rear pocket for a bar, gel or two. Bluesign accredited fabric means a lower environmental footprint, they pack down tiny and look tidy enough to wear off the bike, which is great for multiday missions and makes them really versatile. The 4 way stretch makes for an incredibly comfortable and practical trouser, but can mean they get snagged a little on the seat as I mount and dismount – a small niggle for an otherwise great product. Thin and fast drying courtesy of a Nylon/Lycra blend, these are great for 3 season riding.
▶ Best for: Road, gravel and touring – smart enough to wear while drinking espresso on an Italian plaza.
▶ Verdict: Super stretchy, lightweight and fast drying.
