This cheerful jacket has a great hood which fitted well and was easily adjusted with a stiffened peak to keep the rain out of your eyes. There are two inside pockets, one for a smart phone and the other with an outlet for a wire, useful if you want to listen to music. The double zips were a good feature to aid access to inner layers and the zip pulls were substantial – easy to use, even in gloves. The cuffs are adjustable and comfortable. It kept the rain out well, particularly in strong downpours. The jacket was very narrow over the hips, it didn’t feel like a female specific fit, so check it works for your body shape. I would have benefitted from a larger size, so bear this in mind. At 490g I found the heavier fabric was less breathable, but this had been anticipated by adding pit zips to improve airflow. There was also a baffle and popper at the top of the main zip allowing you have it unzipped without letting in too much rain. There is a small chest pocket which doesn’t fit anything bigger than a compass. The main pockets can squeeze a map in them, but it feels snug when moving, especially when wearing a rucksack with hip belt.
► Verdict: Thick and durable with some nice features, but check your size.
► Best for: Keeping you dry during the cooler seasons.
