Despite being lightweight and comfy, these boots are made for rough mountains. The tall memo foam ankle cuff felt stiff at first, but quickly conformed to my ankle shape. The lacing system makes adjustment easy, and the boots barely move on my feet yet have good wiggle room at the toes. The sole is stiff where needed under the heel and midfoot, with a neat shape and good stability with a grippy outsole. Designed for via ferrata, there’s a a flat toe area, and aggressive lugs on the rest of the sole that hold onto mud and wet grass really well. Together we’ve done a lot of bog trotting, tackled wet scrambles and steep scree, all with confidence. Despite heavy use, the waterproof Gore-Tex liner is going strong, although the fabric/suede uppers are looking a little tired. Weight: 541g per boot size 5.5.
VERDICT: A lightweight performance mountain boot.
BEST FOR: Scrambling, mountain days, via ferrata.
