A pure light hiker designed for proper days on the trail, these shoes have a rugged outsole with a good tread that works well on gravelly or rocky paths. Despite their low weight they feel robust. There’s plenty of stability and support under the heel and midfoot, which are held firmly in place while the toes have room to wiggle and breathe. The uppers are synthetic, with a Gore-Tex liner to keep moisture out. I like the way the flexible uppers feel in contrast to the chunky sole unit, but I do have to be careful how I put them on, particularly the left shoe, as the fold around the tongue can ruck up and dig in to the top of my foot. With a little attention this isn’t an issue however. Traditionally in the UK we default to walking boots, but I’d be quite happy using these for long distance lightweight backpacking journeys, especially in drier climates.
