There’s plenty to talk about here, with lots of zips, pockets and clever features but the main interest has to be the engineering that has gone in to the Airback suspension system. The curved shape is held under tension by an arcing wire frame with a mesh panel that allows excellent airflow between the pack and the body. It’s a very stable system, good for a full load, and the pack maintains its shape even when empty. Available in two back lengths to get the best fit possible, nevertheless I personally find such curved back systems too stiff, but their popularity suggests that others appreciate the airflow. The rucksack feels solid and durable, yet weighs only 1.1kg, which is light for something this sturdy. Features include handy side zip, hip belt pockets, hydration pouch, and mesh front/side pockets.
VERDICT: A solid performer.
BEST FOR: Long days, heavy use.
