Haglofs Cetus -10

£430 www.haglofs.com

What this lacks in lightweight credentials it more than makes up for in comfort. There’s a full-length, 2 way zip on a very roomy mummy shaped bag, protected with an ample baffle on both the zip and at the neck. It’s stuffed full of 700 fill power, Bluesign approved and traceable RDS duckdown, with two brilliant touches inside. The first is a huge mesh front pocket with a zip, for keeping electronics and gas canisters out of the chill. The second is a Velcro sleeve at the head, in which to stuff spare clothing as a pillow. The brand say it’s rated to -4 with a limit of -10deg C, and it’s certainly one of the warmest on offer here – we’ve had a mild winter, but I’ve been happy using this in what snow we have had on the hills here in Scotland. It’s about 1150g on my (rough and ready) scales, and I’m hoping it’s not discontinued… but you can still find it online if it is, and it’s worth considering if you are after a borderline 4 season bag.

► Verdict: Not hugely light, but a 3 to 4 season performer; warm and cosy with some great features.

► Best for: Those who sleep cold, or want to venture onto colder camping trips.
