I did a double take when I saw the price and yet there are no signs of skimping on design or quality. The FreeSpan back system uses a tensioned chassis to create airspace between the back and the rucksack, but has a less aggressive shape than some similar designs, and I found it very comfortable to wear. It is quite broad but being a women’s specific pack the straps are thoughtfully shaped to fit around shoulders and under the arms. It’s festooned with pockets- mesh side pockets, a zipped external pocket, mesh internal and hip belt pockets too, plus a hydration system pouch. There are the usual external attachment points for poles, and curiously, both side and bottom compression straps. The latter are normally used for attaching camping gear, so I’m not entirely sure of their purpose on 24litre bag. It even has an attachment point for a safety light. Weight 1kg.
VERDICT: Superb value with no corners cut.
BEST FOR: Day hikes and supported treks.
