A limit of -12 (hence the name) and a comfort of -5 degrees, reckon Force 10. Are they right? I’m pleased to say Force 10 are being conservative with their ratings, and this has been toasty warm even on some pretty borderline winter camps in the Cairngorms! There’s a full length 2-way zip making for easy entry and exit, a roomy footbox, and massive baffles at both zip and neck. There’s what looks like a ton of down but it’s all loft – it’s actually 700 fill power (and water resistant) – which I can only put down to the lightweight shell it’s all wrapped up in. The weight is 1250g, so the heaviest here, but it’s a huge amount of bag for that weight, and comfortably takes you into winter conditions, especially with insulating clothes worn inside.
► Verdict: Superbly comfortable and good value. No gimmicks, just a lot of warm and cosy!
► Best for: Solidly 3 to 4 seasons, or if you sleep very cold even in summer.
