A classic tunnel tent given an ultralight makeover, this was my favourite of the regular ‘tents’ here. It’s super roomy inside – not wide enough for 2 full sized mats in the foot but certainly room for tapered ones – and with enough headroom to sit up. It seems that user concerns in the earlier models have been addressed in this latest version. The rear vent has an improved design, the porch can be vented from the top (useful for cooking in the wet) and there’s plenty of length for those up to about 6 foot’ish here. The single porch is big enough for gear and cooking, although with as with any single door shelter you do need to be organised – a vast array of pockets on both sides help here. This isn’t freestanding and pitches with 2 lightweight but nicely constructed arch poles, either outer first or outer standalone, or as one unit. Build quality is excellent – sturdy without being over engineered, and the tension band system helps to maintain structure in higher winds. The toothpick pegs are next to useless in most ground conditions and need replacing, but otherwise this is an exceptionally weather worthy mountain shelter. Weight 1380g.
