The Cosmo is a lot of headtorch for the money, ticking all the boxes that the general user could want in a neat and minimalist package. The single button can be used to cycle through a pair of white LEDs that slide from a dim lower power setting all the way to an impressive 160 lumens. Meanwhile a second red light mode is simple to select without activating the white lights and bleaching your night vision – a nice touch. A strobe function (for emergency and cycling) finishes off the package, while locking the torch entirely off is possible – meaning you can transport it in your luggage without having to remove the 3xAAA batteries. The burn time is particularly excellent – maxing out at a claimed 250hrs – and the 87g (including batteries) feels negligible on the head thanks to the comfy and easily adjusted strap. Finally, the housing – with 45-degree tilt – is as attractively designed as you’d expect from Black Diamond. Truly, an excellent headtorch.
