There’s a lot going on, some good, some not so good. The Dermizax NX membrane breathes really well and does a fair job of keeping foul weather out. It’s got four way stretch, which feels good to move about in. There are three venting mesh pockets and an internal chest pocket. Underarm zips help with moisture management. A swathe of plush microfibre inside the collar is lovely for snuggling in to. But… I wish the pockets were water-resistant rather than mesh lined; it’s a potential weak point. The hood is removable (personal taste but I’m not a fan), and is difficult to adjust, with a floppy peak and not enough face protection. The jacket is heavy, at 740g, a weight penalty I would accept if there weren’t so many ways for water to get in.
VERDICT: A bulky jacket that underperforms in bad weather.
BEST FOR: Winter adventures, if not too extreme.
