War in Ukraine: Russia announces destruction of ammunition depot for US howitzers – News

Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov insisted that the Russian attack took place in Rostolivka in the Donbass region.

“During the day, high-precision missiles struck three checkpoints, areas where 36 soldiers and military equipment were concentrated, the 14th Automated Brigade’s self-propelled artillery unit and six ammunition depots,” a regional spokesman said at several locations in Donetsk.

Konashenkov said the attacks on ammunition depots “included a large 155 mm shell deposit for US M-777 howitzers in Rostolovka.”

The war, which began in Ukraine on February 24, has already displaced more than 14 million people – about eight million internally displaced persons and more than 6.3 million neighbors – according to the latest UN data. The worst crisis in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

According to the United Nations, about 15 million people in Ukraine are in need of humanitarian assistance.

The Russian invasion was generally condemned by the international community, which responded by sending arms to Ukraine and strengthening economic and political sanctions on Moscow.
