Ukraine: Russian occupation says it eliminated armed group in Kherson – News

“In the center of Kherson, clashes broke out between Russian military units patrolling the streets of the city and an unidentified group,” the occupation government said today on the social network Telegram.

“After a short struggle, the attackers were eliminated,” the source continued, adding that no Russian soldiers or civilians were injured.

On the Ukrainian side, Natalia Koumeniuk, a spokeswoman for the army’s Southern Command, condemned the “provocation”, saying in a statement to a Ukrainian television channel that Saturday’s shootings and explosions in Kherson were “incited by the resident”.

“We warned you that the provocations will take place between September 17 and 20. “They aim to tarnish the reputation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” he added.

In Russia, the press released a video showing two armored vehicles surrounded by soldiers during the incident on an avenue near the Kherson train station.

In this video, one of the tanks fires a machine gun, while other shots are heard.

Today, a Russian occupation official, Kirill Stremoussov, assured that the situation in Kherson was “calm”.

Since late August, Ukrainian troops have been leading a major offensive to retake the region and the city of Kherson, the country’s only regional capital, which fell to Russian hands in early March.
