“War” was chosen as the word of the year for 2022, the year of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which started the biggest military conflict in Europe since World War II.

With 53% of the vote, according to Porto Editora (PE), the term was chosen “with the highest percentage of votes ever”.

The second most voted word was “inflation”, with 18.8%, and the third was “emergency”, which won with 6.6%.

Behind are the words “queen”, “energy” and “drought” at 5.3%, 4.8% and 3.9% respectively. At No. 7 was “Abuse” (2.2%), followed by “Cyber ​​Attack” (2%), “Nuclear” (1.7%) and “Interest” (1.7%).
