TV channel WNYT has revealed that an American woman who went missing in July 2019 has been found in a secret room in New York State. According to police, Paisley Schultz is now six years old and in “good health.”
According to officials, the child was in a “small, cold and damp” place, under some stairs, in a house owned by the paternal grandfather. The girl’s parents lost custody shortly before she went missing, and when the court found that they were affecting her well-being, police believe it was the reason for the abduction.
“We believe the legal guardians and district officials told someone the parents that the child was going to be taken away, which led to their abduction and escape,” Sagerties police chief Joseph Sinagra told the same channel.
Biological parents Kimberly Cooper, 33, and Kirk Schultz, 32, and paternal grandfather Kirk Schultz Sr., 57, face kidnapping charges. The father and grandfather are awaiting trial at liberty, while the mother is in custody. On the other hand, the police said that further investigation is underway and many more will be arrested.
The child is now in the custody of the legal guardian and in the company of the older sister.
