The Fan-Made Game Dedicated to the Bayraktar Drone

If you have spent much time playing online slots, you may be familiar with the Bayraktar skill game. However, did you know that there is another popular fan-made Bayraktar game with links to the ongoing war in Ukraine?

The Bayraktar TB2 Drone – a military game-changer

Before we delve into the matter of the fan-made Bayraktar game, let’s first take a brief moment to examine its namesake. The Bayraktar TB2 drone is an unmanned drone that can be used for reconnaissance flights, as well as to drop missiles from the air onto enemy targets.

Not long before the war in Ukraine broke out, the Turkish government made a delivery of 12 of these drones to the soon-to-be embattled nation. These drones are manufactured by an arms company known as Baykar Makina.

Another 48 of these drones were slated to be delivered to Ukraine following Putin’s invasion, but this delivery was halted due to the outbreak of hostilities. However, the 12 that Ukraine does possess have proven to be particularly useful in repelling Russian forces, undertaking both reconnaissance missions and missile strikes.

In the course of just one foray by a Baykratar drone, a total of 8 Russian fuel trucks and 96 tanks were destroyed, demonstrating just how effective these machines can be.

The fan-made tribute to the Bayraktar’s Ukrainian defence

The success of the Bayraktar TB2 drones in the war between Russia and Ukraine has prompted the creation of a fan-made video game, a clip of which was disseminated on Twitter by its developer.

Supposedly, this video game allows people to control their own virtual Bayraktar and use it to drop missiles on their chosen targets.

The game has been developed by a coder named Sarah Jane Avory, who is known for her work on the likes of Soul Force, Neutron, and Zeta Wing. Avory is said to have begun working on her Bayraktar video game in early March 2022, making use of the Zeta Wing code base.

While little is known about this game – including exact details about how to play it, as well as when it will be released and who will be publishing it – Avory has made it known that, if the game does ever go on the market, all of the proceeds from its sales will be donated to the victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A peek at the brains behind the elusive Bayraktar game

Members of the C64 gaming community will probably already be familiar with the name ‘Sarah Jane Avory’, as she has worked on a number of popular titles over the years. Having begun programming in the 80’s, Avory took some time out from game development to churn out a series of fantasy novels, including the Briley Witch Chronicles, but she returned to creating video games in 2017, to great acclaim.

With so many years of experience under her belt it seems likely that, if she does complete the Bayraktar drone video game, her contribution will garner similar levels of popularity as her previous offerings. At the very least, even if the game doesn’t fare as well as Zeta Wing, the donation of its proceeds to the victims of the Ukraine war will be a gratefully received gesture from a stalwart of the programming community.
