Steven Spielberg admits he made a mistake when he edited the guns from any. t. extra terrestrial.

Speaking at Time’s 100 Summit, the director explained why the changes were made in the first place and why he now regrets them.

“That was a mistake. I should never have done that,” Spielberg said of editing guns from a sci-fi movie.ET He is a product of his time. No film should be reviewed based on the lenses in which we are now, either voluntarily, or forced to look through them.”

he completed,”ET It was a movie where I was sensitive to the fact that federal agents were approaching children with exposed firearms and I thought I’d change handguns to walkie-talkies… Years went by and I changed my own opinions. I should not have messed with the archives of my own work, and I do not advise anyone to do so.

any. t. extra terrestrial It was released in 1982 about an alien who was left on Earth after the rest of his group was chased away by US government vehicles. The alien befriends a 10-year-old boy who helps keep him safe until he finds his way home.

Spielberg added, “All of our films are kind of a nod to where we were when we made them, what the world was like and what the world was receiving when we got these stories out there.” “So I really regret having that there.”

any. t. extra terrestrial It was written by Melissa Mathison and the film’s cast included Dee Wallace, Henry Thomas, Peter Coyote, Robert McNaughton and Drew Barrymore.
