Stack Overflow’s copy/paste keyboard now comes with RGB

Last year, Stack Overflow teamed up with mechanical keyboard manufacturer Drop on the key, a weird little 3-key keyboard designed for copying and pasting text. I did exactly that, but with level of polishing That was surprising for a $29 novelty that started life as a file April Fools’ Gag. Now Drop, Stack Overflow, and designer Cassidy Williams are back with a follow – V2 . key.

The Key V2 is a very similar product to its predecessor. It costs $29, has three dedicated keys for Ctrl, C, and V out of the box, and you can still customize those buttons to do pretty much anything else. But the V2 switch is also RGB enabled this time, so you can make it light up like a Christmas tree along with your other gaming gear. Its housing is made of acrylic instead of aluminum to allow this light to shine through.

The switches can be removed without the need to remove the solder.

Another major difference is that the new switches are interchangeable during operation, which means you can easily remove them and replace them with a different switch with a different character. Key V2 still uses Kailh Black Box keys by default, but you can now replace them with Cherry brand special keys, Holy Pandas, or whatever your heart desires.

Key V2 is available to order now directly from Drop, which states that quantities are limited to 3,900 pieces with an estimated shipping date of July 20, 2022. It says a portion of the proceeds from The Key V2 will go to digitala nonprofit focused on helping Latina and black women entrepreneurs.
