Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, appealedDuring a sermon at the Zachatyevsky Monastery, the Russians “Do Your Military Duty” and fight “bravely” in the war in Ukraine.

According to the religious leader, the one who “died” for Russia will “enter the kingdom of God” with his “glory and eternal life”. For the patriarch, a person becomes “invincible” when he ceases to fear death. “Fear of death is what drives a warrior to the battlefield, impels the weak to treachery and brother against brother,” he said.

“Faith makes a person very strong, because it changes the worries of everyday life, from material worries to concern for the soul and eternity,” said Patriarch Kirill. “True faith destroys the fear of death.”

The reports came two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the partial deployment of 300,000 troops in Russia to bolster what Moscow calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine.

One of Vladimir Putin’s key allies, Moscow’s patriarch has always been pro-war. A week after the invasion, “we were engaged in a fight that was not only physical but also had a psychological meaning,” he said.
