Elon Musk dissolved Twitter’s board of directors, cementing control of the company

Twitter’s board dissolved Thursday after Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company, according to a securities filing on Monday.

The company filing states that all former members of Twitter’s board of directors, including recently ousted CEO Parag Agrawal and chairman Brett Taylor, are no longer directors “in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement.”

According to the report, Musk became the “sole manager of Twitter”.

The move, while unsurprising, highlights how the world’s richest man has rapidly consolidated his control over one of the world’s most influential platforms, with little, if any, checks on his power over the company.

After Musk completed his nearly $44 billion acquisition of Twitter on Thursday, Musk has terminated at least four senior executives, including Agrawal.

The new Twitter owner plans to rethink the company’s content management policies and permanently ban users who previously violated the platform’s policies, including former President Donald Trump, though he said over the weekend that no major decisions had been made yet. He is also reported to be planning to lay off a large number of workers at the company.

While Musk has a reputation as an innovative entrepreneur, he is also known for his erratic and controversial behavior. This weekend, Musk was widely criticized for it Twitter Link to a fringe conspiracy theory about the violent attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Musk deleted the tweet later.
