Angola’s Constitutional Court has accepted a ban by the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), in which the country’s general election results gave victory to the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA). are competing. In Angola, the armed forces were put on high combat readiness. The decision, signed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, will remain in force until September 20.

UNITA did not accept the election results, saying the MPLA, which has been in power for more than 45 years, did not win the election with an absolute majority.
