Available in men and women-specific fits, the Grivola features Vango’s new fitting system comprising of the FootSpy Insole and Vango FitStick, which ensure optimum fit. The insole features a red line at the toe end, indicating where the toes should be positioned, and the FitStick enables swift removal of the insole via a small hook so you can check the space at the heel of the boot. The hiking boot also features Vango’s FlexBeam System, a calibrated chassis designed and adapted for each size of boot, offering flexibility and support when walking over varying terrain – even protecting the soles of feet from stones and potential bruising. I like the fact that the boot sits slightly higher than most hiking boots, offering greater protection and stability on more difficult terrain. The rugged upper is waterproof and lined with the fully-taped Protex® waterproof and breathable membrane, ensuring your feet stay dry and comfortable. The lacing system is really easy to use, offering smooth movement to tighten and loosen, and the boots offer toe protection with RockRubber. The Grivola fits my feet comfortably and snugly, with no slipping at the heel, and the outsole Traction System offers great grip and durability. The tread pattern has been designed to facilitate self-cleaning too, which is clever. They aren’t as light as other walking boots I’ve tried, but not far off.
VERDICT: A comfortable, well-fitting hiking boot with great ankle support and stability that keep feet dry. Great price tag too!
BEST FOR: Hiking, mixed trails and backpacking.
