Malta, along with sister islands Gozo and Comino, are recognised across the world as outstanding locations for a wide range of outdoor activities enjoyed in year-round warm sunshine. This was recognised at the 2016 DIVER awards when Malta was awarded 3rd place in the ‘Destination of the Year’ category. As well as world class diving and water sports in crystal clear seas, the stunning Mediterranean islands also offer climbing, cycling, walking and running within a beautiful natural terrain. Visit www.visitmalta.com to find out more about the adventures you can have while on holiday in Malta.
On the 30th of May 2016, Gozo will hold ‘The Gozo Ultra Trail’ event; perfect for those who love outdoor adventures. The event is fast becoming an international attraction for the island – with over 10 countries participating in 2015 – as word gets out about the exhilarating experience of cycling or running the race in the Mediterranean spring while taking in some of Gozo’s most picturesque sights.
The race cut-off times are relaxed to encourage beginners to take part and for those wishing to enjoy the trail, rather than race. There is also a 21km trail run over the last part of the course finishing in Ghajnsielem where avid cyclists are encouraged to participate in the Mountain Bike Challenge.
