Danny Green claps again at Pat Beverly because of Chris Paul’s criticism

Despite bouncing back in the first round of playoffs, Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley is having a very productive May.

After making a stellar appearance on the JJ Redick podcast, the veteran pest took his talents to the ESPN offices in New York this week to put it all in Chris Paul to defend and his overall play in the Suns’ second-round collapse against the Mavericks.

(Beverly also featured some interesting reviews of Doc Rivers and James Harden, If you are interested.)

Beverly comparing Paul’s defense to the training cone defense was a particularly viral moment, and the entire basketball world took note… including Sixers sniper Danny Green.

Green, who is known for his defense, had some thoughts for Beverly in his latest Inside the Green Room podcast:

“People are targeting you too, Pat Biff. You don’t play any hard defense there. You don’t stop for Luca. It’s about time and again I see Luca calling you **”little guy” and “He’s too small” and pointing at you at every opportunity He got it. When you play Luka, you’re a cone too. How would you like that?”

“When you talk about the Hall of Famer, you can criticize, but the disrespect I think has been taken a bit too far.

“I suspect [Beverley] He just used this platform because he had an issue with Chris, and he used it as a personal revenge to get a lot of his anger out on the set at that moment. I thought it was unfair to Chris, and I’m sure a lot of people felt the same, a lot of players in the league.

“I don’t mind some guys criticizing players, but you play a role – disrespecting the Hall of Famer is way too far. Calling someone a cone is disrespectful, bro. I don’t care. Target and cone are two different words, bro. He said he couldn’t Guard.Chris Paul is…a nine-time member of the All-NBA Defensive.Yes, they’ve targeted him, but there have been times when the Pat Peef has been targeted too, are you kidding me?

“[…]

“Pat Beef, you don’t stop Luca either. There aren’t many people on this planet who stop Luca.”

It’s hard to argue with what Danny is saying here!

Sure, Paul had a bad series. And if you want to judge him based on his post-season exit history, feel free – because that’s a fact. Chris Paul has yet to prove he’s the guy who can win you a ring. It is the truth.

But Beverly definitely went a little overboard in his criticism of CP3. You don’t have to be that slanderous about ESPN of all platforms, the global leader in sports. When you’re on a show like Get Up First Thing on a Monday Morning, and totally influence a Hall of Famer like Paul, you do your best to get that hateful take-off. It’s not just giving an informal opinion; You are making some effort.

You get that, and Beverley will likely have a fruitful career after the ball to light people up and give honest opinions on basketball without a bachelor’s degree. It is very entertaining!

But being a hater just to be a hater can quickly become. We’ll see what else Pat Beef has in his arsenal.
