Anker has expanded its push into artificial intelligence and connected-home technology with the launch of Eufy MindBase, a local AI hub designed to process security camera footage inside the home. Announced at the IFA 2026 technology show in Berlin, the system is also intended to act as a wider smart-home hub, bringing together security, automation and Matter-compatible devices.
Eufy MindBase Brings AI Processing Into the Home
The Eufy MindBase runs an Anker-developed large language model (LLM) directly on the device. According to the company, this allows footage from compatible security cameras to be analysed locally without needing to leave the user’s home.
Anker describes MindBase as the “central brain for the home”, positioning the device as more than a security camera hub. It combines local computing capabilities with storage and smart-home connectivity.
Security will be its first major application, but Anker says it intends to broaden MindBase’s role. Future plans include an energy agent for managing household power use and a cleaning agent designed to work with robot vacuum cleaners.
The company has not yet disclosed a price or confirmed when MindBase will go on sale.
Matter 1.5 Support Expands Smart-Home Compatibility
MindBase will also operate as a Matter controller and is expected to run Matter 1.5, the latest generation of the interoperability standard designed to make connected-home products from different manufacturers work together more easily.
Anker says the hub will support more than 40 Matter device categories, including smart lighting, sensors and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
Third-Party Cameras Could Join the Eufy Platform
Eufy Security spokesperson Janet Jin said the company plans to integrate third-party cameras compatible with Matter, potentially extending MindBase beyond Anker’s own Eufy security ecosystem.
Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Zigbee, giving the hub several options for communicating with existing smart-home equipment.
MindBase will also work with Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video, allowing compatible connected cameras to operate through Apple’s smart-home ecosystem.
For UK households, where devices from several different smart-home brands are often used together, broad support for Matter, Thread and Zigbee could make the platform particularly useful if Anker delivers the promised interoperability.
Local Privacy Takes Centre Stage
Anker’s emphasis on local processing follows previous scrutiny of Eufy’s security and privacy practices.
Eufy faced criticism several years ago after claims that its cameras offered end-to-end encryption were found not to apply consistently in all circumstances. The company subsequently overhauled parts of its security infrastructure, placing greater emphasis on local storage and end-to-end encryption.
With MindBase, Anker is again making local data processing a central part of its strategy. Keeping camera analysis on the device could reduce reliance on cloud servers, although the effectiveness of the privacy protections will ultimately depend on how the finished system operates.
New Eufy Cameras and Video Doorbell Revealed at IFA 2026
MindBase was one of several Eufy smart-home security products announced by Anker at IFA in Berlin.
The company also introduced the TrackLight Cam S1, a new S4 video doorbell and a window camera. The S4 is being presented with VR-related features as Anker continues to expand the capabilities of its home surveillance range.
The announcements reflect a wider technology industry trend towards using AI to interpret information collected by cameras and sensors rather than simply recording it.
Anker Plans AI Agents for More Household Tasks
Anker’s longer-term ambitions suggest MindBase could eventually become a platform for coordinating multiple parts of the connected home.
By combining an on-device AI model with Matter support, local storage and several wireless protocols, the company is attempting to build a hub capable of understanding information from security cameras while managing other connected equipment.
The planned addition of dedicated agents for energy management and robotic cleaning would take MindBase further into home automation, potentially allowing different devices to work together with less dependence on separate apps and cloud platforms.
