White House candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris pledged this Monday to make the fight for abortion rights in the US a central part of her presidential campaign against Donald Trump.
“We will fight for reproductive freedom, and if Trump gets the chance, he will sign a ban on abortion in all states,” the Democrat said in his first campaign speech since dropping out of the race for President Joe Biden.
Noting that she went through a “rollercoaster” of emotions after Biden’s decision, Harris assured her supporters that she would win the November 6 elections.
“Over the next 106 days, we’re going to make our case to the American people and we’re going to win,” Harris said at a Democratic campaign rally in Delaware. “It’s been a rollercoaster and we’ve all been overcome with so many emotions mixed with respect. I have to say I love Joe Biden.”
Later, he turned his arguments towards Trump and his supporters, characterizing them as “predators” and “fraudsters” who cheated consumers for their own benefit. He also recalled that he was the first former President of the country to be convicted of a crime.
Referring to his past as California’s attorney general, he was also highly critical of Trump.
“In that role, I met all kinds of criminals. Believe me when I say I know people like Donald Trump,” he said.
