The US and UK military launched strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Thursday as part of efforts to prevent continued disruption of shipping in the Red Sea. Al Masira TV, run by the Houthis, reported at least 14 people killed and 30 wounded.
US and British forces struck 13 targets in Houthi-held areas of Yemen, US Central Command said in a statement.
The British Ministry of Defense added that the joint operation targeted three locations in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah. site From the British government, it had drones and surface-to-air weapons.
Houthi-run Al Masira TV reported that at least 14 people were killed and 30 wounded in an attack on a radio building in Hodeidah’s al-Haq district.
“As always, great care was taken in planning attacks to minimize any risk to civilians or non-military infrastructure,” the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement. “Attacks at night should have further mitigated these risks.”
Houthi-run media reported 13 strikes, including 6 on the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
The Houthis, who control Yemen’s capital and heavily populated areas, have been attacking international ships in the Red Sea since November in solidarity with the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas militants, prompting retaliation from the US and UK since February.
