Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Shtayeh submitted his resignation to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, citing the “political, economic and security” situation as a result of Israel's “occupation” against Gaza and the West Bank.
“I made the resignation available to President Mahmoud Abbas,” Shtayeh said during a meeting, Palestinian agency WAFA reported.
“This decision was taken in light of the political, economic and security developments related to the aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and the unprecedented escalation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem,” he said.
Shtey explained that the Palestinian people and the Palestinian “political establishment” are facing “a ferocious and unprecedented attack, “genocide,” forced displacement efforts, famine in Gaza, settler colonization and intensification of terrorism, and continuous invasions of fields and local (refugees) in the West Bank.”
Shte also referred to “the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the rejection of all signed agreements and the gradual annexation of Palestinian lands” and “attempts to change”. The Palestinian Authority as an Administrative Security Authority with no political content”.
