ViewRanger – the app that helps you get active outdoors – has created a collection of walking routes to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, all of which are in areas associated with the royal family.
Fit for a Queen, each of the walks presents the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic and explore the outdoors this spring to celebrate our monarch’s record breaking birthday.
This collection of walks is a great way to explore areas dear to the Queen and her family such as Balmoral, Sandringham and Hampton Court Palace. Walks with the Windsors also includes routes in Commonwealth countries including Canada, Australia and Malta.
The Walks with the Windsors collection of 90 walks (one for each year of HRH’s life), can be downloaded using the free to download ViewRanger app. The app includes route guides from branded publishers such as The AA and Countryfile Magazine, as well as dedicated ViewRanger users with a love for the Royals who have created their own walks in tribute. All are now available to download as a digital guide.
Craig Wareham, ViewRanger co-founder, said: “The Queen is a fantastic example of the benefits of an active lifestyle, there aren’t many people at 90 who cover the miles she does.
“Creating this collection was a great way of helping people to mark this milestone birthday in the outdoors in both the UK and Commonwealth. Walking around these historic royal sites is the perfect way for people to enjoy some fresh spring air and much like the Queen, enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
“By grouping together a selection of route guides as a royal route collection, ViewRanger is making it all the easier to plan a day out to mark the Queen’s birthday. The guides can be downloaded quickly and stored on a mobile device so a mobile signal is not required to navigate using the guide.
“Photographs, waypoint information and other helpful content for each route are included within the digital route guides and the active navigation system alerts the user if they veer off track. ViewRanger also makes it possible for families to record their own walks and share them with the ViewRanger community and other friends via social media or email.”
The Walks with the Windsors collection covers 11 areas and includes:
• The Royal Residences of London – Clarence House, Kensington Palace
• Sandringham, Norfolk – the country retreat
• Isle of Wight – Carisbrooke Castle and King Charles I
• The Commonwealth – international walks
The Walks with the Windsors collection can be found in ViewRanger’s in-app discovery tab – plus all of the walks in each of the 11 areas can be found on the collection’s page at www.viewranger.com/thequeen.
Each route collection also has its own web page and links that make it easy for route collections to be shared and accessed whether the viewer is on the web or using the ViewRanger app.
