The Guides performed well on a variety of terrain with good grip thanks to their Vibram sole. They are a narrower fit than the other boots, which meant they pinched a little for me. Over time the nubuck leather will stretch, but these may not initially suit those with wide feet. They eventually developed a crease across the foot, below the toes, which was also uncomfortable on each step. However, they remained waterproof and performed well in downpours, thanks to their Gore-Tex lining and treated leather. The nubuck leather is cream, not the best colour for mucky mountain walks, but it does make you clean them quickly afterwards. Overall these boots have similar features to the others on test, but for the higher price they lacked comfort. 750g per boot, B1 rated.
VERDICT: Standard features but (for the price) they lack comfort.
BEST FOR: Mountain walks for folks with narrow feet.
