Active warmth is supplied by Primaloft Silver insulation in this eco-friendly offering from Vaude. The fit is slim but relaxed; the sleeves are loosely elasticated, while the waist is slightly longer and employs a drawcord. There are two zippered handwarmers, and I would like to see a chest pocket in addition. The hood is simple but effective while the chinguard is fairly minimal. The pertex quantum outer repels moisture and seems very robust – after several months of use it still looks brand new. This is at the ‘active’ end of the spectrum, replete with stretchy panels at the armpits for extra movement and breathability, but it’s equally at home as a stand-alone mid-on-the-move, or under a shell when the weather turns. It packs small, too. It’s PFC free and made to bluesign® standards. Weight, 305g
► Verdict: Well made, eco-friendly active warmth.
► Best for: Backpacking, hiking, biking, climbing.
