As with many things Vango, the Ventini 20 aims to be a solid performer at an attractive price point. That £45 tag certainly grabs the attention quickly, and particularly when you consider how loaded with features the pack is. Most of the industry standards are here, from a single axe/pole attachment loop to upper shoulder adjusters, sternum and waist straps, side mesh pouches with compression straps, hydration pack compatibility, an in-built (and brightly coloured) rain cover that’s as handy for safety on the cycle commute as it is for repelling light showers on the hill, plus a ridged Air Flex back system which helps improve ventilation between you and the pack. There are no hip pockets, but it’s still impressive stuff. Consider the two excellently judged and spacious compartments (the front nominally for “quick access” but still able to carry a hefty 1-litre water bottle and more with ease) and the not-too-bad overall weight of 720g and it just gets better. The fabric and fitting are a little stiff and coarse throughout, but for this price I’m sold.
VERDICT: Almost all the features you could need in a savvily budget package. A great buy.
BEST FOR: Multi-activity users keen on value for money.
