An innovative boxer short – really? Well, yes. There’s a lot to write about here, from reversed seams (on the outside, not the inside), a close fitting but not tight ‘3D’ panel construction designed to provide upper leg support, and excellent wicking and levels of comfort. The Quest is an all synthetic mix of nylon, spandex and polyester, which seems to help keep perspiration levels under control when working hard, and the fit is true to size – there’s no loose, baggy material here, and just the right amount of gentle elasticity. The most eyebrow raising innovation comes from the ‘BallPark Pouch’, a sort of mesh hammock for the genitals, which isn’t just hype – it really does provide extra support and comfort. These stay fresh(ish) if you need to wear them for a few days at a time, dry fairly quickly and are not too warm, even in summer. There’s no fly opening. My only slight concern might be the durability of the mesh ‘pouch’ over time, but so far this has proved unfounded.
▶ Verdict: Supportive, fast wicking, all season boxer short.
▶ Best for: hiking, climbing, backpacking, travel.
