This trekking pack from Salewa has it all. Women’s packs are usually too short for me, so the fully adjustable back system allowed me to set it right for my frame. There are lots of good deep pockets on the sides, two zipped ones were great for storing my more valuable items, and two mesh ones on the outside were great for things it’s useful to keep close to hand – a drinks bottle or walking poles (which fit perfectly with a strap to keep them in place). The bag has a curved zip around the front giving you access to the main compartment so you can access items packed at the bottom. There is a good-sized lid with adjustable positioning, so you don’t compromise the lid space if you fill the main compartment. The reservoir pouch came in handy for longer days on the trail and finally there were good sized pockets on the hip belt for a camera, a smaller smart phone or snacks. At 1.8kg, the weight makes this pack heavy before you start, but you won’t notice it on the trail.
▶ Verdict: Comfortable and very practical, a great design.
▶ Best for: Multi-day hikes where you want to keep everything organised.
