Lets be honest, it’s lightweight and not much of an insulating layer, but as a next to skin starting point for a layering system in damp conditions, or for aerobic activities in cold weather I think its spot on. The lightweight polyester fabric features a grid knit on the inside, which deals with sweat very efficiently. Treated with Polygiene, a silver based technology, it manages nasty niffs pretty well for a synthetic base layer, although wearing it for three days solid on the hill eventually led to a robust odour! The deep zip is designed for venting, and flatlock seams are positioned away from pressure points.
VERDICT: Excellent wicking layer for aerobic activities in cold weather.
BEST FOR: Running, biking, hiking, on its own or under layers.
